The best part about a life update is that you don’t necessarily have to go into much details. Well not into every category of them, but let’s talk about work.

If you follow me in Instagram, you might already know that I’ve very recently (as in a day ago) switched jobs and am now officially not an accountant. As far as what I am it’s not that important (a teeny-tiny little project manager, yay), the main thing is that I’m not an accountant. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad field, and the stereotype about the people there couldn’t be further from the truth. But I am personally not cut for that. I can’t take so much regulations, it’s just way too stable for me. All in all it’s a great field, full of really great people, however I was just not feeling home there.

So, I got everything I had and started a project management course at the beginning of this year and wished for it really hard. Then made a little effort. The first couple of interviews were a complete pain in the butt, they just wouldn’t accept that I want to leave the operative finance department.

To be honest I cracked. 2 months into the year, just a day before our trip to Milan, I went in to a well-known international company to be trialed for an advanced accountant position. They got to me with the possibilities. Two assistants, really nice pay, great benefits. I was ready to settle.

And in that minute, 15 minutes into our interview, they called in my currently brand-new manager. The position was not even open yet, they just knew it was scheduled to be posted soon. There was no team to speak of yet, but it was love at first sight. At least on my part. Within a week I had my offer, and in a heartbeat, I resigned. And it was a great decision.

I can’t say much for the future, it’s way too early to tell, but I just feel that this is so much closer to my heart than what I did previously. It wouldn’t have been possible without my previous job, and it was a really great experience, but this was a long time coming. And for the first time in my life, a carrier step didn’t feel like a complete restart, rather an exciting next step. I couldn’t even tell you how happy I was to realize this.

As you’ll see by the pictures down there, everything is going fabulously – at least the parts I’m showing you. I’m not going to show pictures of how this morning half my apartment was flooded by the neighbour above me… I want to show the good stuff, that’s what we have to focus on anyways, isn’t it? Lot’s of wine, lot’s of friends and lot’s of love to get us through even the worst of days.

So now, I’m off to learn some more about PM as I’m currently crazy about it and just bought the PMBOK Guide for a fortune. But hey, I’d rather invest a bit more in my right now, who knows this might actually turn out to be as great as I’m currently suspecting it to be. J
